Bridge View/Challenger Day School
programs are Illinois State Board of Education approved co-educational day treatment programs for students 7-21 years old exhibiting emotional and learning disabilities, other health impairments, and autism.

Bridge View/Challenger School's
therapeutic milieu is highly structured and supportive in order to provide an emotionally and physically safe environment for students to learn. Bridge View/Challenger's educational program is individualized to address the diverse instructional needs of our students. The integration of our educational and therapeutic programs afford students the opportunity to develop overall social-emotional functioning.
ACADEMIC PROGRAM

A variety of academic subjects are available with an emphasis on foundation and applied skill development with instruction individualized to the achievement level of each student. Bridge View/Challenger offers 1:5 teacher/student ratio for classroom instruction. Bridge View/Challenger are year round schools, open 250 instructional days. Regular school year hours are 8:00am - 3:00pm and extended year (summer school) hours are 8:00am - 1:45pm.

The Educational Program Includes:

An academic curriculum designed to meet the students' graduation requirements with individualized instructional methods. In addition, Bridge View /Challenger offers Art, Computer Education and Physical Education classes. Recreational and educational community activities are also available.

Speech//Language and learning disability resource are available to students who demonstrate needs in these areas.

Post-secondary planning, including career education groups, cooperative work study and coordination of services from high school pre-vocational/post secondary specialist. In addition a variety of  transitional programs are offered through the Department of Rehabilitation Services.

Comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations including necessary components to complete required student re-evaluations.


CLINICAL PROGRAM

Individual Therapy

Each student is assigned a therapist and sessions during the week in accordance with the students' needs. Individual therapy is designed to help students achieve their optimal functioning by utilizing healthy and adaptive strategies to overcome emotional, neurological and organic limitations in order to facilitate a successful educational experience as well as a productive and independent life.

Group Therapy

Each student attends weekly group therapy sessions in order to provide them with an opportunity to develop both the problem solving and the social skills needed for interpersonal success at school, home and the community.

Family Therapy

Weekly family therapy sessions are designed to provide emotional support and skill development to parents to enhance the development of a stable home environment and provide consistency between school and home.
